Report: For Easter Sunday half the boats fished the island and half fished the coast. Both spots were biting, bringing on some big Reds and Chucks with a hand full of Whitefish to round out the day. Weather was beautiful and the ocean was calm. One local boat fishing the coast caught a fish not common in these parts. The Erna-B is somewhat known for catching these exotic species not native to the Channel Islands, or even sometimes native to California at all. Today they caught what looks like an Ocean Whitefish but if you look closer you will see it is a Blueline Tilefish. An obvious cousin to the Whitefish but different head shape and color pattern. The blue line by its eye is usually much more vibrant in warm water, but up here is dull because the water is cold. Either way, a cool catch and probably the first of many reported by the Erna-B and its secret coastal fishing holes.

Today’s Fish Count: 5 Boats and 118 Anglers.

1,111 Rockfish, 113 Whitefish, 32 Lingcod, 24 Sheephead, 4 Sculpin, 2 Sole, and 1 Blueline Tilefish.

*All boats are independently owned & operated*
