One more day on the coast did the trick for variety but didn’t add a whole lot to the coffers. In conditions too beautiful for words we picked, poked, and prodded far beyond the usual haunts seeking to capitalize on the white sea bass fortune that the Fishin’ Lumberjacks are well know for. It was a long shot to be sure. But with nothing to lose and time on hand why not go for it? That rationale led to a morning of sightseeing up close and personal on a stretch of Southern Baja’s “lost coast”. Sublime conditions, grease calm, and a crisp yet velvety atmosphere welcomed all to the rail where just about everything under the surface except seabass and yellowtail were ready and willing to go.

By mid day the thrill had faded. Another change of pace was definitely the call. Beckoning from afar was one more shot, a chance, at another premium quality yellowfin tuna. Although recent reports suggest the outside is still in a funk we trekked west all afternoon studying the water for any sign of gamefish to stop on. As I said to the guys “if we didn’t go places because of radio reports indicating slow fishing we wouldn’t catch half of what we do. Things change; that’s the constant out here. Though nothing more came over the rail conditions encountered sure looked fine. 76-77 degree tropical blue water and tons of life are a stage set for tropical game fish of every variety. The door is open.
