Striper fishing has been picking up lately both off the shore and on boat.  Anglers have mainly been using cut bait and nightcrawlers to snag a few.  Some guys have been able to reach their limits, with most reports being a few perperson.  The dam next to the main launch ramp has been a hot spot for shore anglers.  On the water the bouy line, Kong island, and Sharon's rest area have been some productive spots.  Other than the bait bite, some guys have been using ice jigs in some areas and are catching a few.  Some anglers who decide to hit main points and troll with lures have also been able to snag a few.  The largemouth and smallmouth bite remains pretty tough, with most catches coming on a dropshot plastic or a small jig.  Some fish have reportedly been caught on deep diving jerk baits and lead heads with a fluke as well.  The catfish bite has slowed down with nothing to reprt on lately.  Same goes for the bluegill and crappie jig.  We finally have been put up on the DFG trout stocking schedule once again, which means we are expexcting to have a trout plant hopefully this week.  This will only be our second plant of the season and with that said, trout fisherman and anglers throwing big swimbaits are getting restless form the anticipation

Castaic Lake was never put onto the DFG trout stocking schedule and did not see a trout plant the second week after our first. It was indefinitely a disappointment for some anglers, but other fish starting to bite better helped cure that. The stripers have been taking cut baits and nightcrawlers at a better rate recently and some anglers reporting some good-sized models. Other than the bait bite there still has been some stripers caught on jerk baits, flukes, and...... Read More
