DESCHUTES RIVER, mouth to the northern boundary of the warm springs reservation

The BLM has closed the lower Deschutes to all boating. The river closures also include bathrooms at developed recreation areas as well as boat launches. Access to day-use sites, trails, and all roads remains open. Check here for the latest updates on BLM properties.

Trout fishing for bank anlgers should be getting good from Beavertail upstream to the reservation boundary. Spring is in full force on the lower Deschutes. Most of the trout have spawned in February and March, which should make for some hungry fish looking to recondition themselves. Look for hatches mid-day, but nymphing will likely be most productive.
