Fall Chinook fishing has been good in the estuary. Most anglers are trolling downstream of the Hwy 101 bridge. Anglers have been using anchovies or spinners. Flashers have been very effective this year. Chinook have started moving up the lower Rogue, but warmer temperatures in the river are keeping most anglers fishing the bay.

Summer steelhead and half-pounder steelhead are scattered throughout the lower river.  Very few anglers are targeting steelhead. Most anglers are using flies or small spinners in riffles and tailouts of pools. The best time to fish is early morning.

Huntley Park seining project has started for the year and this is a great resource for anglers wanting the fish the lower Rogue. Anglers can check ODFW’s Fish Count page to get the two week updates on fish movement.
