NEWPORT, Ore – Pacific halibut anglers now have more opportunities to harvest this prized fish in the Columbia River and Central Coast subareas.

Central Coast Subarea
Beginning Aug. 3, anglers can fish seven days a week for Pacific halibut in the summer all-depth fishery. This subarea runs from Humbug Mountain to Cape Falcon. The daily bag limit is two halibut.

Columbia River Subarea
Five days are now added to the all-depth fishery: Aug. 26-27, Sept. 8-9, and Sept. 22. This subarea is from Cape Falcon to Ledbetter Point, WA. The daily bag limit is one halibut.

ODFW’s Christian Heath says enough quota remains in the subarea to give anglers more days to harvest these prized fish. He reminds anglers landed halibut must be immediately tagged.
