Mike Payne and Mike Villanueva come almost weekly from L.A. to fish their favorite lake and they have a track record of limiting out on catfish before noon! They use a secret bait that consists of shrimp marinated in red kool-aid, diced garlic, chicken blood, and olive oil.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake, but are particularly active near the west buoys. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Stop by the Ranger Station for a dough-bait recipe that works well for either catfish or carp. Crappie are being caught in the early morning hours underneath the Leriget Crappie Float or in the vicinity of Bass Point.
