Happy New Year everyone! In honor of the trout reopener coming up, the spotlight is on Luiz for this solid lightning trout he caught from our trout opener! You'll have a chance to catch a trophy lightning like Luiz too because once again we will be stocking our lakes with trout from Mt. Lassen for our reopener on the 13th and 14th of January. 3,000 lbs. of trout will be stocked between lakes 4,5, and 6. Lakes 4 and 5 will be closed to fishing beginning Tuesday January 9th until the morning of Saturday January 13th. Lake 6 will remain open for registered campers only. Trophy sized lightning and rainbow trout will be included in those 3,000 lbs. So you definitely don't want to miss out! The baits that are working best for trout include powerbait, nightcrawlers, and mini jigs such as rooster tails, kastmasters, or rat tails. Our last stock was split between lakes 4 and 7 on December 29th. Be sure to make it out for some awesome fishing to start off 2024 with a bang!

The bass bite is a little slow currently but there is still some action here and there. Jerkbaits, dropshot worms, and swimbaits are some good options right now since the water temperature has been dropping. The water has also gotten murkier recently with water visibility around 2-3 ft so keep that in mind.

Lake Lowdown

Average Water Temperature: 60°F

Water Clarity: 2-3 Feet
