Shasta Lake is in perfect shape for the spring fishing season ahead!  We're fishing for rainbows and browns currently and we're seeing a nice grade of fish daily.  Rainbows and browns in the 4-5 lb class have been available and we're catching them.  Still waiting on the big brown trout to start to start stirring around but thats a any day kind of thing right now.  Most of the areas we fish are presenting grwwn water and 48 degree water temps.  Shasta is just 27' feet from full and its forecasted to crest sometime in May.  Most of our trolling techniques are spoon presentations.  We like to swing for the fence some days and that means we're running Trinidad Tackle Optimizers.  We also run real bait (Shad, Anchovy, or Herring) or Brads Super Baits stuffed with tuna and Pautzke Fire Power Krill because they work great as well, but I usually only run one or two rods max with those big bite set ups.  I like to run this presentations with triangle flashers to get the attention of big trout in the areas we're trolling and generally run those set ups at slower trolling speeds.  There are some nice trout everywhere in the lake now.  I tend to fish higher in the lake arms but this year, we're seeing fish down in the main body already as well.  Side planer presentations are king right now but a downrigger line or a diver rod will get some action as well.  I've been fishing 5'-30' feet down for 90% of my bites.  Spring is coming and that means its go time for big brown trout.  I have a few available days left in February and 4 days total for March.  If you want to get in on the trophy brown trout bite, now is the time to give Jaynie a call at the booking desk to make your reservation.  (530) 510-2925 thank you!
