They are still catching trout along Senior Shoreline, but they are heading into deeper water as the temperatures climb. Ephraim Deguzman had big trout of the week, and possibly the season, with his 8.20# rainbow caught on the east end using a jig. Powerbait (yellows and greens), salmon eggs, and inflated nightcrawlers are some of the top baits

Largemouth Bass linger around structure and lie in wait just inside the reed beds. They are most often caught using swimbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.

Crappie have been hard to find. They are more active in the early morning hours and on overcast days. Crappie respond well to mini-jigs or live golden shiners.

Catfish season kicks off officially for us next week with our first of two plants in May. Lake Wohlford cats prefer mackerel, shrimp, or chicken liver.
