I heard the big Bonito were hitting at the island. I had to request for a trip aboard the PURSUIT. We left the dock at exactly 6 am. I introduced myself to Captain John Woodrum and the crew. Chef Danny fixed me up a breakfast Burrito and hit the bunk for a snooze. By the way, this is the only Full day boat that offers bunks to use. You'll be well rested by the time you reached Catalina Island. Well my prediction was right, the Bonito were there and hitting anything that hits the water. They are ranging 6 to 8 lb class. Besides the anchovies, we also have Live Squid and Sardines. We got all the arsenals to have a marvelous day of fishing. We caught wide of variety of fish. Captain John never stops working until we find a good spot. Our fish count consist of 167 Pacific Bonito, 18 Rockfish, 24 California Sheephead, 13 Kelp Bass, 27 Ocean Whitefish, 71 Halfmoon, & 4 California Scorpionfish for 27 anglers. I would like to thank Captain John and the rest of the staff for a wonderful day of fishing. PURSUIT is always the best Full Day boat in town. Don't miss their next trip. It's like Local Tuna fishing in the winter. For reservations aboard the PURSUIT, call 22nd Street Landing at (310)832-8304.
