After a week of not so good weather, things were looking good for first charter aboard the MIRAGE out of CHANNEL ISLANDS SPORTFISHING . Capt Tucker and Capt Lou would be our drivers for this trip, on deck we had Ryan and Miguel, with Andrew in the galley. Capt Tucker said we would head for Santa Rosa and look for squid and if we found any we would try for exotics in the morning and if not we would head for San Miguel. As luck would have it, there were no squid to be had, the few stops we made looking for squid soon caused an invasion by the seals so we went on to San Miguel. We started in about 140 feet and they reds and chuckles were willing to eat everything we put down there. After a quick flurry and several stops in the shallower waters the fish did not want to play anymore. Capt Tucker made the decision to go a little deeper and that was the right decision, we were soon puliling reds and lings over the rail. The weather was overcast most of the day and chilly, but the quailty of the fish made everyone forget about the chill in the air. Thanks to the MIRAGE crew for an outstanding day on the water and excellent fishing. To get in on the action call CHANNEL ISLANDS SPORTFISHING at 805-382-1612 to reserve your spots.
