Waterfowl Seasons

The Department of Fish and Game has established the 2011-12 waterfowl hunting seasons and regulations. Highlights include the popular "Northeast Zone" opener, which will be Oct. 8, with a daily bag limit of seven ducks and eight geese.

The general "Balance of the State Zone" opener will be Oct. 22, and the season will run through Jan. 29, with a daily bag limit of seven ducks and eight geese. Also returning is a special four-day "Balance of the State" early season that received little attention last year. It will allow the take of Large Canada Geese only, and running only from Oct. 1-5.

Numerous area-specific zones and special hunts will have a variety of differing rules, dates, and bag limits, so consult the full set of regulations prior to heading out.
