Fishing for large trout continues to be good. The largest of the week was 8 lb. 6 oz. beauty hauled in by Steve Monreal of Vista, pictured above. Quite a smile Steve. He landed this lunker in on an orange power worm/lime green power bait combo from Trout Cove.

Best baits continue to be night crawlers, power worms, power baits. The best lures have been mini-jigs, Kastmasters, Rooster Tails and Thomas Buoyants The best results have come from using light line in the 2-4 lb. test line. Power worm/power bait combos have been especially productive for attracting monsters over 7 pounds. Cool water conditions continue to keep the trout close to shore. The hot spots are the Trout Cove, Boat Dock Cove and Jack Creek Cove. Whisker Bay has been hot in the days immediately following a stock.

The next stock will be on Dec. 5th with 1500 pounds of Nebraska Tail Walkers.

Blue Gill fishing improved unexpectedly this week with a 1 lb. 2 oz. Florida Bluegill brought in on a Rapala from Catfish Cove by Holden Sisco of Carlsbad.

For further fishing regulations, park rules, trout derby rules and future trout stocking schedules please call the Dixon Lake Ranger Station at 760-839-4680 or visit http://www.dixonlake.com
