In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Half day Bass boats are available weekdays for 35$ each.

Small to medium sized Bass are biting mostly in the early mornings and late afternoons. Doug Hagadorn of Valley Center caught and released a 6.50# Bass on a crawdad off the South Shore Rock Pile. Robert Wade of Poway weighed in a 5.75# Bass caught at the same location on a jig. The Largemouth Bass can be found near structure and are hitting crawdads, shad raps, and dark colored plastics.

It was an above average week for Crappie fishing. Randy Eddo of Escondido weighed in a 2.25# Crappie caught at the South Shore Rock Pile on a Crappie Jig while David Lopez weighed in two Crappie right around 2#s as part of a stringer of nearly a dozen of the pan fish. Lopez caught his Crappie on shiners at Bass Point. Crappie prefer the cover of rocks or submerged trees in which to hide and are most often caught on Crappie Jigs or Live Golden Shiners.
