The East Walker River is still hanging in there, though the fish seem to be getting a lot more wary than usual. The water temps are still in the 68 to 69 degree range coming out of the dam, and the reports we're getting from anglers is that they're rarely having any trouble releasing/reviving fish. It seem the best thing to do is try to get the larger fish in and released as quickly as possible to reduce the possibility of injuring them. Also the reports we're getting are that the smaller fish are full of fight, expecially the rainbows, and anglers are not having any trouble at all releasing them. The dry action has slowed a bit the last few days, but nymphing with very small nymphs and midges seems to be producing the best. # 20 and smaller bugs like red zebras, black/silver zebras, rainbow warriors, flashback pt's have all been doing well. As I've stated before, we'll keep a close eye on the fish down there and if/when they start getting too warm we'll let you know and start recommending fishing elsewhere.
