Hot Spots, Hot Baits!
We didn't think that the fishing could get any better than it was last month but it looks like we might be wrong! The fishing has been EXCELLENT so far this March. Anglers are consistently pulling in Rainbow Trout and many of these fish are Monsters! A few fishermen have also been lucky enough to reel in some nice looking Crappie and one woman even brought in a nice sized catfish last week. The most popular spot for boat anglers who are looking to catch trout is Big Hat Island! Other notable spots are the Dam, The North Shore buoy line, and upriver in the Narrows near China Gulch. Most anglers are catching trout anywhere between 5 and 25 feet down and the most commonly used baits are Kastmasters and Rapala lures. If you are looking to trout fish from the bank you should try your luck out at the South Shore Trout Pond and fish with powerbait or salmon eggs. Looking to fish for Crappie? Most anglers who are pulling in this fun fish are catching them in the Narrows on nightcrawlers or small grubs.
