Last Thursday we received a 4000lb. stocking of Calaveras Trout Farm rainbows. Shore anglers reported limit style action on nighthcrawlers, powerbait, kastmasters, and various spinners, with at least 2 fish besting the 7lb. mark. Trolling picked up after a few days as the trout began to acclimate. Flat lining Rapalas, and needlefish got it done for the boaters. There are two more plants slated this season, one on Wednesday April 2nd, and Thursday April 10th, prior to the annual trout derby set for the 12th, and the 13th of the same month. The crappie bite has tapered off a bit last week, but anglers targeting them reported fair action trolling small minnow minnow imitation or drifting mini jigs tipped with a crappie nibble. The bass bite is steadily improving, some anglers reporting double digit numbers. Carp have been all over the lake, and making for some excellent bowfishing, as well as on hook and line.
