Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.


To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.


Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Half day bass boats are available weekdays for 35$ each.


The trout fishing has been good but the fish are on the small side. Powerbait and inflated nightcrawlers have been the best baits.


The bass fishing remains good with small to medium sized bass being caught. Hayden Heck of Valley Center caught and released a 6.60# largemouth fishing on Senior Shoreline with a plastic worm. David Medina of San Marcos weighed in a 6.15 # bass he caught and released at the west buoy line on a rattle trap. Bass can be found near structure, and respond best to crawdads, shad raps, or dark colored plastics.


It continues to be a productive year for crappie which are being caught steadily in the early morning hours in and amongst the rocky outcroppings. They are most often caught using mini-jigs or live golden shiners.


A good number of catfish are being caught as well. Lake Wohlford cats are partial to chicken liver or cut mackerel. Stop by the ranger station for a dough bait recipe that works well for either catfish or carp.
