The Madison below Quake Lake continues to have solid fishing. Our guides report that the nymphing every morning has been good. The most productive rig is a rubber leg stonefly and a smaller nymph like a $3 dip or shop vac. When the day heats up there has been ant fishing as well as some hopper fishing. When flying ants hit the water fish are always happy to rise. It has been a great cinnamon ant year in Yellowstone country so be sure to tie a few for the next time you're in the area. There have also been emergences of caddis and mayflies that have made for good evening fishing. Now that we're into the fall, streamer fishing is a good option here. If you're going to spend all day in the valley you want to streamer fish the banks in the early morning and late evening. Overcast days such as today will offer productive streamer fishing all day long. Stop into the shop if you're looking for some new streamers. We carry the newer articulated patterns as well as the older style flies that have gotten in done for ages.
