Madison River in YNP Fish Report

We're into the meat of spawner fishing on the Madison in YNP. Many of our guide trips have had success while nymphing and soft hackle fishing the major holes. As well as a few sneaky holes too. The big Hebgen browns usually draw the most attention but you shouldn't discount the rainbows. These fish fight like small steelhead and their colors can be incredible. If you're heading into the park to catch some of the action you might want to start the day by swinging soft hackles or nymphing. Year after year, the Shakey Beeley is one of the most productive flies on the river. If you're nymphing the go to rig is still a rubberlegs paired with a smaller fly. This will be the most productive way to fish mid day. Especially if Baetis become active. If you're lucky you will find nice resident fish and spawners rising to Baetis. We've already had reports of it happening.

The summer crowds are gone and anglers who want solitude and adventure are on our daily docket. For this newsletter, check out Jimmy's Yellowstone Park Fishing Forecast, a......

The Firehole has come back to life. On our rainy days our guides have found Baetis fishing. When the sun comes out you can fish hoppers and other terrestrials. There has also been some caddis fishing during the warmer evenings. If you don't find fish rising you can swing soft hackles. The rainbows will be looking for emerging caddis. And the browns will be plain angry and want to eat your fly. If you're coming to our area for the......
