With a mild start to the winter our current snow pack sits right about 70%, which is just fine considering we have a lot of winter left. The fishing has been good around the area but as Craig mentioned the midges are just starting to get going. We expect to see more surface activity within the next few weeks. Craig, Patrick and I went and did a little fishing late last week on the Madison and had a great time. With the weather being in the mid 40's we decided to take a short float and jump from spot to spot and wade fish. Surprisingly we did not see a single fish rise during the time we fished, so we rigged up with rubberlegs, zebra midges and San Juan's on a "short leash" set up and did quit well. Most of the fish were in skinny water, no more than a foot to a foot and a half. Many of the fish we caught we on the gravel bars, like the one pictured to the right side of Patrick.
