County Regional Parks to Kick Off Trout Season This Saturday
Sierra Bow Introduced to Parks’ LakeWaters
(November 2, 2009 – SAN BERNARDINO, CA) Trout season opens this Saturday at four San Bernardino County Regional Parks: Cucamonga-Guasti, Ontario, Prado, Chino, MojaveNarrows, Victorville and Yucaipa. Glen Helen Regional Park, San Bernardino, will begin its trout fishing season on Saturday, November 21st. The stockings will continue from November 7th through April 10th.
To the delight of anglers, Sierra Bow will be found in this year’s supplies. A close relative to a wild rainbow trout, this ruby red meat trout comes from the coldest spring fed waters in the highest mountain elevations, grown in earth ponds and streams. Vividly colored and wild-acting, this variety of trout provides rod-bending action that creates excitement for fishermen.
Fishing at San Bernardino County Regional Parks is $7. Anyone sixteen years and older is required to have a state fishing license and these are available at each participating park. Vehicle entry is $7 during the week and $10 on weekends and holidays.
Regional Parks will host five derbies throughout Trout Season. Fishermen will try to catch the largest trout in the shortest time to win one of fifty prizes at each derby. Derby season begins December 12th at Cucamonga- Guasti Regional Park in Ontario. Other derbies are scheduled at: Yucaipa Regional Park, January 9, 2010, Prado Regional Park, February 6, Mojave Narrows Regional Park, March 20th and Glen Helen Regional Park, April 6th. The derby entry fee is $15 per fisherman. A state fishing license is required and may be purchased at the park.
