A terrific fishing week from Zihuatanejo, according to Captain Temo Verboonen, our "Ace" reporter for the area and owner/operator of the super panga, "Secuestro de Amor". The warmer waters swung in close to the Zihuatanejo coastline and the fish came in with it, including the marlin and sailfish, yellowfin tuna, along with the Sierras, jack crevalle and roosterfish. The overall fishing has improved so much that even the crews are getting excited, whether fishing inshore or offshore. According to Temo, the sailfish are biting very good and the marlin are biting better, starting at about 15 miles out from the Bay, as the greenish tinted waters turn to crystal clear blue.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days for the early part of the week and changing to mostly sunny days for the remainder of the week. Temps ranged from 71 nights to 92 daytime highs. Incredibly nice weather in this area.

Sea Conditions: 82-83 degrees for the inshore and to the nortth of the Bay and cooler to the south. Sea temps rise to 84 degrees by the 100 fathom curve and even warmer, (85-86) at about 15 miles off shore. Mostly calm days with very light surface breezes in the mornings and increasing to about 10 mph in the afternoons, mostly flowing from the southwesterly directions.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 15 miles for the billfish and 40 miles for the yellowfin tuna. The inshore fishing has been best near Troncones beach line.

Best Bait/Lure: Billfish taking lures & rigged baits, the tuna taking a variety of feathers, Lures and cedar plugs and the inshore fish good on poppers, live bait for the roosterfish and jack crevalle and smaller lures trolled for the Sierras.

Bait Supply: Excellent bait supply for fresh rigged baits and good live bait availability for the inshore fishing at the $5.00 per dozen.
