Fishing has been tougher for the fellow angler for the past few days and the shad moving out deeper has contributed to that. You can still find smaller balls of shad out in the coves and anglers who are netting shad are still having pretty good luck out there. The Bass are starting to school up and are being seen moving in wolf packs. A range of artificial baits and plastics are producing the best, but you can still find a pack of bass attacking a ball of shad and get them on topwater or reaction baits. The stripers have been a little more elusive but when you come across a school of them you are able to get your fair share of fish. They too are keening in on shad and different spoons and plastic flukes are working best, either being trolled or hitting main points. The Bluegill bite has slowed down a bit, but you are able to still get on some alright numbers using the usual waxworm in the coves wherever you can find good cover. Anyone trying to go for catfish have been having some luck using chicken liver or fresh mackerel. The water temperature is dropping, and many anglers are getting restless waiting for the first trout stocking this season.
