Its almost February and that means we'll be seeing more and more browns returning to the lake after the fall spawn in Shasta's tributaries.  We lose a lot of the bigger rainbows to the tributaries this time of the year so its always good to see the brown popualtions in the lake surging upward.  Many of the triploid browns are still in the system, but its the big natural spawners that typically tip the scales above 7-8 lbs.  We're catching the bigger browns almost every trip now and that should continue through spring.  March and April seem to broduce the biggest numbers, but its the fish that are big, not the amount we catch each day.  If we can get each client to land a big brown, thats a good day.  Anything above that on Shasta is a bunus, but we often times do score good numbers of rainbows and a few browns when the bite is good.  March and April also offer some pretty good number days for rainbows, but we're fishing different areas for those 16"-18" keeper size trout.  March dates are available, but we send a few guides down to Colusa to fish Striped bass in April so our Shasta Lake dates are getting thin.  Give Jaynie a callat the office to book your Shasta Lake spring brown trout trophy trips!  (530) 510-2925, Thank you!
