Trout fishing on Shasta Lake has yielded double digit hook ups every trip the past week.  Most of our trout are coming in the 15'-20' range and they are taking a variety of spoon/hoochie combo's.  The water in the main body of the lake is pretty clear this year so natural presentations are working best. With wtaer temps in the high 50's still, we're not seeing much in the way of Shad down in the lower lake just yet.  Water temps are cooler than normal for this time of the year so I doubt the lower end of the lake will see the usual shad balls moving down until things heat up a bit.  We're still catching quite a few trout most days but until the Shad show up we won't see the wide open fishing we normally see until June.  With the water being so cool, I haven't seen many ski boats out and houseboat traffic is very light.  This has made for some really peaceful days on the lake and if you are able to get out and don't, you're missing out.  I'm not making a lot of noise about the Shasta Lake fishing now, but by June I think its really going to take off.  I'll enjoy the slow period now but I'm hoping folks will take advantage of the guided fishing opportunities in June and July.  Whether its a trip designed to learn more about fishing Shasta Lake or just a day of catching for family or friends, June and half of July will be the only months we'll be fishing Shasta until next year.

Give Jaynie a call at (530) 510-2925 for available dates or more information about our guided fishing trips on Shasta Lake.  Thank you!
