The Kilchis will be open for retention of hatchery salmon but will be closed to wild Chinook retention for the remainder of the year due to low returns forecasted for the fall run. See the regulation updates for more information. There are no hatchery Chinook releases on the Kilchis river, so numbers of retainable Chinook will be very low. Last updated 10/19/22.

There is a catch-and-release only fishery for chum salmon on the Kilchis River Sept. 16 to November 15. This fishery should be in full swing as the river drops after this week’s rains. Anglers are asked to use good ethics when participating in this fishery: avoid spawning fish and redds (spawning nest) and use legal tactics. Snagging has been an issue the past couple seasons and if continued could result in a loss of opportunity.
