Catch rates for rainbow trout at Diamond Lake have picked up a bit, but not exceptionally. Poor air quality from smoke has kept many anglers away the last couple of weeks, but air quality can change daily depending on the direction of the wind. As temperatures start to cool, Diamond Lake may be a great place to catch some trout trying to put on some weight before winter. ‌

Anglers should check with the Umpqua National Forest (541-498-2531) for information on camps and ramps.‌

Diamond Lake has been stocked with tiger and brown trout. Fly-fishing with leech patterns have been doing well for these fish. These fish are intended to assist in controlling illegally introduced tui chub. These trout are catch-and-release only and need to be released immediately and unharmed if caught.
