East Walker River Fishing Report

Truckee River Outfitters

Flows have been around 180 CFS and 192 CFS for a couple of weeks now. The California side seems to be fishing better than the Nevada side with a little more bug activity and a few more fish being caught. It is still a small fly game for the most part. Dark baetis patterns, red copper johns, and midges in size 18-22 are getting the best results. Getting a good drift is a must. The thing most anglers struggle with when using small flies is getting a vertical presentation under their indicator. Higher flows and small flies make this an interesting achievement. As always, keep an eye on the flows before you go.
