http://www.montanaflyfishing.comWinter is a quiet time in Yellowstone country and we enjoy it and the winter sports like cross country skiing, snowshoeing and winter fishing. Yesterday Patrick and I fished the Madison River. We had few rising fish but took several on stone fly nymphs and midge larvae imitations like our Slough Creek Midge. The rainbows are beginning to get their spawning colors and we will see some early spawners next month. Midges are beginning to come off in number and should begin organizing into mating clumps and clusters over the following weeks so stay with us for current fishing information and make sure you tune into our Facebook page for daily updates.

The Gallatin is also a great option down below Big Sky. There are a few Midges here, but as with the Madison you can expect to the best with nymphs. Tim's little black stone, Zebra's #18-20, Tungsten Torpedo's #18 and Mighty Midge emergers are great choices for here.......
