The East is running at about 90 cfs right now and we got a couple really good reports from down there yesterday afternoon. Andrew Sears of Walker River Outfitters fished both the California and Nevada sides of the river yesterday and did very well. The California side from the bridge on highway 182 to Murphy's Pond fished very well with around a dozen or more fish caught in the 16 to 22 inch range, the Scerine Ranch section in Nevada also fished very well with another dozen or so fish caught in the same size range. The Rosachi section in Nevada wasn't quite as good but also produced 6 or 8 fish in the 15 to 20 inch range! Andrew says there were lots of bugs hatching including midges, caddis, trico's, PMD's, BWO's, damsels and a few stoneflies on the Nevada side. Most of the fish were caught with caddis nymphs and small midge patterns plus a few on dries and stones on the Nevada side. The fish were all very strong and healthy and powerful. Andrew thinks that as long as the flows stay up a little, at least over 50 or 60 cfs the fishing should remain very good. Sounds like now's the time to get down there while the water is up a bit and the fish are happy and healthy!! If you want to book some time with Andrew to have him show you the ropes just give him a call at 760-937-1665 or call the shop at 760-932-7707!
