Cat bite strong at Lafayette

Fishing at Lafayette reservoir has been picking up lately. The last catfish plant was 1,200 pounds on June 24. There will be catfish plants every week until the end of August. On 6/27, Nick Mann from the East Bay caught-and-release 13 largemouth bass fishing from a rowboat on the south end of the lake. He was using plastic worms as bait. Fishing for Bass and catfish is great at the Lafayette Reservoir. The fisherman have been catching in the East Cove and south end of the lake with nightcrawlers and garlic chartreuse Power Bait. From boats a variety of lures including Kastmasters and Needlefish are catching the rainbows. Catfish are being pulled out from boats in the middle of the lake with nightcrawlers and chicken livers. The bass anglers are successful from boats in Harry’s Cove using a wide variety of swim baits. (925) 284-9669
