Shaver trout a puzzle

Shaver Lake - Shaver Lake, CA (Fresno County)

Shaver Lake has taken a turn for the worst for fishermen who have attempted to locate fish this past week. Dick Nichols of Dick's Fishing Charters said he has had charter trips for the past straight 10 days and has found the fishing to decrease each of those days. "We were getting three limits of quality rainbows and then slipped to 2 limits and then to a limit each trip this past week," Nichols said. Nichols added that one day the fish are at road 1 and the next at the island and the next the dam. He says you never know where they are and finding them can be difficult. He says the kokanee bite is very soft and he is getting a few most trips but not the action that was found last year. The surface water temperature reached 70 degrees this week causing most fish to be in the lower levels of the lake. Shore fishermen are catching a fish or two, but no consistency there.
