Bass: Bass fishing has been Excellent at DVL. There has been a good bite on swimbaits, Senkos, Ikas, and Carolina or Texas rigging 6 inch plus plastics or creature baits. Bass have preferred large baits since they are beefing up for the upcoming spawn. Boat anglers have had the most success with bass fishing, but shore fishermen have been doing well with live crawdads. The bass have been holding at 10-30 feet. Main points, submerged mounds, and coves with heavy structure have been the favorite spots for boat anglers. Johnny Ybanez of Hemet got a 6 pound bass fishing from shore with green Powerworms. ??Art Berry and Shane Spencer of Hemet got their limits, releasing 65.5 of fish caught solely on Baby- E swimbaits by California Swimbabes. Art Berry, Shane Spencer, and Matt Lowery fished a second day and got their biggest 15 bass totaling 82.13 pounds. That is a two day total of?? 147.63 pounds. Art Berry, a seasoned fisherman at Diamond Valley, remarked it was the best two days of fishing he has ever had. Bobby E. Lyons of Corona got a 5 pound Bass about 20 feet down. He was fishing in Rawson cove, but would not divulge his fishing technique. David Blankenhorn of Orange was fishing about 30 feet down with plastics in Rawson cove when he got his two biggest fish at 6.5 and 7.6 pounds.

Trout: Trout fishing improved tremendously this week. Shoreline and boat anglers have been getting limits. Kastmasters, Powerbait and Roostertails have been the top baits. The marina has been the top spot for stockers while the holdovers have been elusive. Most trout have been pulled form 10- 20 feet. Emanuel Olaga of San Bernardino got a 4.9 pound trout fishing from shore with rainbow Powerbait. Christopher Olson of Sage got a 3 pound holdover trout while surface trolling the west dam with a rainbow trout pattern crankbait. George Herrick of Upland got a great limit of trout using crappie jigs near the marina at 10 feet down. His biggest 3 weighed slightly over 5 pounds.?? ??
