Just let the moon phase get a little darker and the striper action immediately picks up for the fleet. This past week reflected a welcome surge in the striper action for The Aries Fleet, fishing from the Marina El Cid, in Mazatlan, and the overall averages were above 2 per boat fishing day. High boat for the week was the "Aries I", skippered by Captain Jose Zamora, reporting in with 15 stripers, (8 releases) 1 dorado and 2 jack cravelle for their 6 days fished. The "Aries IX", skippered by Captain Gilberto Quintero, had a 4 striper fishing day, (3 releases) making for a happy charter group. The overall catches for a total of 19 offshore fishing days reflected 41 stripers, (20 released) 1 dorado and 2 jack crevalle. The inshore super pangas, reportting in for 3 days fished reflected 45 red snapper, 14 rock perch and 30 triggerfish.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny & warm days with a couple of partly cloudy days and temps that ranged from 54 nights to 85 daytime highs. Mornings will feel cool and light jackets may be in order.

Sea Conditions: Surface breezes flowing mostly from the southerly directions to 15 mph. Sea temps at 78-79 inshore and changing to 80-81 at 17-18 miles out to the south of the Marina El Cid.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at the temp break at about 18 miles out to the south of the Marina El Cid and working south and west from there.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits are working extremely well and there are good strikes on the artificials, too.

Bait Supply: Excellent for fresh rigging baits and live bait. Live bait remains at $1.00 per bait.
