Ferron Creek in Emery County is a productive small stream that flows from the Wasatch Plateau into Millsite Reservoir. The best fishing occurs in its upper reaches, where cool mountain water supports a healthy mix of wild brown and stocked rainbow trout.
Brown trout averaging 10–14 inches dominate the system. They’re commonly found near structure such as undercut banks and deep pools. Rainbows are stocked in accessible sections and are receptive to worms, spinners, or small flies.
Summer offers excellent fishing with dry-dropper setups or nymph rigs. Elk hair caddis, beadhead nymphs, and small streamers are go-to flies. Water levels drop by July, making for easier wading and more predictable trout behavior.
Access is straightforward along Ferron Canyon Road and other forest routes. Campsites and picnic areas nearby make it family-friendly. Winter fishing is limited due to snowpack and ice.
