Silver Creek AZ - Show Low, AZ

Creek Information

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Apache Trout
Silver Creek, located just north of Show Low, AZ, is a spring-fed stream managed by AZGFD and renowned for its year-round trout fishing and special regulations. This clear, meandering stream supports stocked rainbow trout and occasional Apache trout and is especially popular for its seasonal trophy fishery.

From October 1 through March 31, the creek operates under catch-and-release rules with artificial flies and lures only. During this time, AZGFD stocks broodstock rainbow trout—some exceeding 10 pounds. Fly anglers succeed with woolly buggers, streamers, egg patterns, and small nymphs. Barbless hooks are required, and all fish must be released immediately.

From April 1 through September 30, the stream reopens to bait and harvest fishing. Anglers can keep up to six trout per day using PowerBait, worms, or spinners. Sight fishing is common thanks to the creek’s clarity, and good fish are found year-round due to stable spring-fed water temperatures.

Access is excellent, with gravel parking, signage, and marked public easements along the stream. Wading is allowed but often unnecessary. There are no developed facilities beyond restrooms and signage, so anglers should come prepared.

Silver Creek stands out as one of Arizona’s premier trout streams, combining accessible fishing, trophy potential, and pristine high-country surroundings. It’s a must-visit for both casual and committed trout anglers.
