Hi Everyone
Starting Thursday March 1st, red snapper, rockfish, sheepshead, and whitefish will be in season (ling cod and cabezon are April 1st). Coming off the two month closure, fishing for these species should be excellent.

The Amigo will launch the first overnight open party trip of 2007 with Capt Mike Thompson. This trip departs Friday March 2 at 10pm to fish Saturday March 3. The trip is targeting yellowtail and white sea bass, but there is a fairly good chance that some of the fishing time will be targeting red snapper and other rockfish species. The Amigo's overnight trip is limited to only 16 anglers and the price is $175. Still spots open as of Monday 02/26 at 6pm.

The Patriot will be running afternoon ?? day trips Thursday March 1 and Friday March 2 and double ?? day trips over this weekend (March 3 & 4). With the rockfish opening up there should be some excellent rockfishing on some of the deeper spots as well as a lot more fish that can be kept on the shallower spots (sheepshead, whitefish, etc).
I would recommend bringing some heavier set ups including 8 to 10 oz torpedo sinkers and a reel that can be fished up to 360 feet along with the standard inshore set ups. There should be a lot of action and some good shots at some trophy sheepshead (a lot of large sheepshead have been released throughout the closure).
The Aggressor will be running ?? day trips Friday March 2, Saturday March 3, and Sunday March 4. The Aggressor will more than likely be fishing Catalina Island targeting some of the deeper spots for sheepshead, red snapper, and whitefish. With the 2 month hiatus Catalina Island should be action packed as well.
Looks like the weather is supposed to be nice for this weekend. Should make for some fun fishing on all the trips. Mike Thompson should have live squid for his overnight trip and the ?? day and ?? day trips may have live squid for the weekend (I will send out an update as the weekend gets closer).
