Unfortunately, it's been another difficult fishing week for Mazatlan sportfishers and anglers in the offshore waters and for no apparent reason. However, the way things are shaping up, I would think that we will be moving into a better fishing period very shortly, right after tthe full moon phase that's up-coming on May 20th. That should begin to change the elements into the summer season which is historically action packed with dorado and sailfish. We'll see if my crystal ball is correct for this year? Overall, the offshore sportfishers reported in for 24 fishing days that reflected 3 stripers, 1 sailfish, 4 dorado and 2 yellowfin tuna. Inshore action was much livelier as 5 super panga fishing days reflected good mixed catches that included 49 red snapper, 8 sierra, 19 pargo (to 18 pounds) 31 mojarras, 29 loras, 20 conejos and 8 barracuda.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy, but warm, with temps from 61 nights to 89 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Inshore temps at 77 degrees and gradually rising to 80 offshore, with southeasterly surface breezes at 10-15 knots.

Best Fishing Area: None reported

Best Lure/Bait: Almost all of the offshore fish are being taken on rigged trolling baits.
