This fish report is from Pete Hillis reporting out of Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja Mexico for the week ending August 14, 2008.
As per telephone conversation with Captain Hector this morning, things are pretty much the same. Weather has been beautiful with calm seas. We have had good numbers of anglers coming down this week. Most of the catch has been yellowtail and dorado under the paddies, 12 to 15 miles off the point. White seabass with lots of calicos and sand bass and large barracuda were being brought in south of Soccorro. Large rock cod and ling cod were being taken at Ben's Rock this week.
Attached are pictures of Frank Ballard who fished with Dave Romano with Captain Pato on the Garron The picture shows just 2 of the many nice white seabass caught. Those in the picture are 40 and 50 lbs, respectively. Our filet table shows one of their days bottom fishing.

We have been still waiting for another school of albacore to show--hoping real soon. However, there is yellowtail at San Martin and white seabass keeping customers happy. Also, rock cod, halibut and ling cod in good quantities. Captain Miguel aboard the Pelicano got four nice white seabass at the mouth of the bay on Tuesday. Boats will be checking Soccorro to the south for the white seabass....... Read More

Good news in San Quintin this week. Things are definitely picking up this week. We had 15 boats out this week where they found wide open albacore 15 to 20 miles off the point. Cedar plugs seem to be the hot ticket when trolling. If you find a paddie, there is good chance for dorado and yellowtail under them. Six dorado were brought into the dock on our boats, the largest weighing in at 35...... Read More
