Sportfishing catch from San Quint??n, B.C. (M??xico) Saturday February 28, 2009.

We visited San Quintin the last saturday of February (28th) to evaluate the sportfishing catch at Old Mill boats arriving .

Saturady was warm with light winds and only four boats of Pedro's Pangas were out for fishing. The Paloma panga arriving first, following Coyote, Gorron and Rommy. The four boats lodged ten fishermen from Los Angeles, and the total catch was 214 fish. Most abundant fish species were 92 whitefish, 40 bonitos, 33 lingcods, 31 vermillion rockfish, and few numbers of sheephead, starry rockfish, barracuda, kelp bass, gopher widow rockfish.

All four boats were fishing at the 15 and 240 spots, and temperature of surface water was 57oF.

As usual, we enjoyed the restaurant Jardines Baja and El Faro de San Quintin; at Saturday afternoon I was talking with Lorenzo, and his wife Debbie, of Campo de Lorenzo about a next day fishing trip on his private boat, however I left San Quintin before he arriving.

Ok, see you after my March visit to San Quintin.
