This is the sportfishing report (Saturday May 24, 2009) from San Quintin, B.C., M??xico

We monitored five boats that were fishing out: Paloma, Gorron, Fany III, Fany V, and Invader, a private boat for fish and release.

The five boats hosted 12 fishermen with a total catch of 275 bottom fishes, only. The last boat arrived at 16:00 hrs at the Old Mill site. The most abundant fish species was the Red or Vermilion rockfish (Sebastes miniatus) with 161 individuals, some weighing up to 10 pounds, followed by 26 good size lingcods (up to 12.5 pounds), 25 kelp bass, and minor numbers of bocaccio, starry rockfish, flag rockfish, greenspotted rockfish, whitefish and one Pacific mackerel.

The fishing was good with light winds, and warm day, to approach the Memorial Day weekend.
