This fish report is from Pete Hillis, reporting out of Pedro\\\'s Pangas, San Quintin, Baja Mexico for the week ending July 9, 2009.

The weather has not only been great but absolutely beautiful. No winds and the temperatures have been nice--cool mornings heating up to very nice afternoons in the mid-80\\\'s.

The yellowtail is still cooperating with us at San Martin Island with barracuda and bonita mixed in. We also brought up some very nice calico bass hiding in the kelp.

Fishing with us this week were Tom Lewis, Paco Nunez, Alan Lewis, and Carlos Ramos, hailing from the Greater Los Angeles area. They fished with Captain Hector on the Rommy and tried their luck at San Martin Island. They landed 4 nice yellowtail (18 to 20 lbs) along with bonita and barracuda. All the yellowtail were caught on a purple/black rapalla. Also fishing with us were Jose Lewis, Adrian Gilliams and Alexander Beltran. They came down from Long Beach, CA. They also fished San Martin Island with Captain Pato on the Coyote. They hauled in six very nice calicos, one (1) halibut, one (1) giant Humboldt squid along with some nice barries. And of course, our rock cod and ling cod fishing is still outstanding for all of you who like the bottom fishing.

On Friday, June 19th, two private boats took local guides on a 240 heading, 12 to 16 miles off the point, for limits of yellowfin tuna and a few alby's. We have a few boats going out this weekend and we are hoping for a great tuna...... Read More
