A GGFA member vessel recently donated an educational trip for some local Richmond, Ca. kids to witness the first ever Salmon smolt release at Brickyard Cove near the Richmond Marina.
Millions of smolts are being given a greatly improved chance at survival this year by being trucked from hatcheries - past lethal, low & warm water river conditions.
GGFA has and will continue to support and diligently represent practices which promote a sustainable Salmon population. This practice has shown tremendous success in drought years. The benefits to the Salmon are fairly obvious but we also hope that these kids got an experience and an understanding of this iconic fish that they just didn’t have before !!
