GGFA members, along with our partners at the Nor Cal Guides and Sportsman’s Association, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and UC Santa Cruz scientists, participated in a NOAA Fisheries salmon tagging study today.

The fishing was unbelievable! A total of 30 mature Chinook salmon were successfully tagged with acoustic transmitters, allowing researchers to track their movements and monitor returns.

These tagging trips will continue over the next couple of days, with a goal of tagging 100 mature Chinook salmon. Given the incredible fishing conditions, we have a good feeling they’ll reach that target with no problem!
