Rainbow trout were stocked in spring 2025. To target rainbow trout, tip small ice flies or tube jigs with waxworms or nightcrawlers, and fish them 5–10 feet below the ice in 20–40 feet of water. For brown trout and tiger trout, jig actively with jigging raps and tube jigs tipped with cut bait, such as Utah chub, Utah sucker or mountain sucker. For kokanee, jig a small ice fishing spoon tipped with waxworm or mealworm over deep water. Shiny and flashy spoons (silver or gold) typically perform better than painted spoons. Kokanee will be suspended, but the depths at which they’re schooling can vary between just below the ice down to 40 feet below the surface. A sonar is helpful for finding and seeing these fish when they pass below your ice hole and will greatly increase your chance for success. Kokanee are caught most often after the reservoir first ices up; they can be more difficult to locate in subsequent weeks. Sterile lake trout have been stocked in the reservoir since 2021. These fish should now be catchable and will average around 8–12 inches in length. The best chances to catch these fish will be in shallower water (less than 20 feet deep) using small ice jigs with plastic bodies and tipped with either a mealworm or a waxworm. Please note, all lake trout under 22 inches in length must be immediately released. Anglers are encouraged to review theUtah State Parks ice safety guide.
