East Walker River
The East is running about 98cfs right now and has been fishing pretty well for most anglers. Most of the action is on the section below the bridge though there has been some very nice fish caught on the "Mile" section. The fish are fewer on the Mile but they seem to be much larger with the average size being over 20". More fish on the lower section but smaller on the average. The streamer action has picked up quite a bit with good reports coming in on sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish, double Fuego and ziwi's. There is still some decent dry/dropper action as well, chubby's and stimulators on top and perdigons, zebra midges, flashback emergers, and rainbow warriors underneath. Straight nymphing under an indicator is also a good way to go.
Sceirine Ranch
The ranch fished well this week with good reports coming in on streamers as well as nymphs. Lots of nice fish in the 15 to 20 inch range as well as a few over 20. We have a lot of bookings in the weeks to come so if you want some time on the ranch try to give us a call well ahead of time.
Hunewill Pond
The pond fished excellent this week with anglers reporting double digit numbers for half days out there. Lots of good action with mini leeches, soft hackles and sheep creek specials over the last few days. The anglers who were out there this week reported that at least 50% of the pond is fishable with the weeds having subsided considerably over the last couple weeks. Now is a great time to be out there roping in some good fish!
Bridgeport Reservoir
The Reservoir has had a couple good days lately and some not so good days as well. It sounds like there's starting to be some good trolling action with crawlers, Rapalas and Thomas Bouyants but the bait fishing has slowed quite a bit. We haven't heard any good news from the shore anglers yet, might be a couple weeks away for that to get good.
Kirman Lake
We didn't get any reports back from Kirman this past week but when we hear something we'll pass it on.
Twin Lakes
We had some very good reports from the Twins this past week with the best ones coming from anglers who were trolling Rapalas and spoons about 40 feet deep and fairly close to the shoreline where it drops off quickly. It sounds like the action was very good for lots of 2 to 4 pound fish, mostly rainbows but there were a few browns thrown into the mix. There has also still been some good bait action with pinched crawlers, inflated night crawlers, mice tails and garlic power bait.
West Walker River
We're still getting some good reports from the west, it sounds like the fly fishing has been the best with anglers reporting good numbers of fish on dry/dropper rigs as well as drifting buggers through the deeper pools. The water is low and clear up there so get in Ninja mode, don't spook those fish and get some good drifts. We've had some decent reports from anglers fishing spinners and bait as well up there.
Virginia Lakes
The Virginias have still been kicking out good numbers of fish with the best reports coming in from anglers who are fishing from tubes or kayaks. Fly anglers are stripping streamers with nymph droppers and spin anglers are flipping mini jigs and trolling Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters. Bait anglers are having some success with power eggs, mice tails and pinched crawlers.
