We had eight boats out this week enjoying great weather with calm seas. One day we did have large swells but swells only--no white caps--still with great fishing conditions.
Rich Shary brought a group down from Yucca Valley and fished 2 days on the Rommy and the Calimar with Captains Hector and Jose Luis, respectively. They brought in limits of yellowtail at 15 to 22 lbs on blue/white jigs and live bait. Also cranked in some big ling cod 12 to 16 lbs on live bait. Rich picked up a 20 lb white seabass at the 6 fathom spot while soaking live bait for yellowtail.

We had only a few boats out this week. The weather has been great this week. No winds and calm seas. Remember to bring jackets and warm clothing for the ride out, but by the afternoon, you will want to set them aside. Fish with us this week was Mary Navarrette and Johnny Leal from the Los Angeles area. They fished on the Coyote with Captain Miguel and caught almost every species available in our waters...... Happy New Year and we hope that 2010 brings a large number of nice catches among your readers and our anglers! Weather has been good to us this week. It is very cold in the mornings, but warms into the 70's by 11 a.m. We had 2 boats out yesterday who came down for some rock cod fishing and were not disappointed. They brought up big reds and whitefish off of Ben's Rock. One boat did...... Read More
