An earthquake has occurred with a magnitude such that a tsunami will not be generated. This will be the only WCATWC message issued for this event.
Preliminary Earthquake Parameters Magnitude - 5.0 Time - 0238 AKDT MAR 22 2010 - 0338 PDT MAR 22 2010 - 1038 UTC MAR 22 2010 Location - 56.4 North 156.5 West - 75 Miles/121 km E of Chignik Alaska - 410 Miles/660 km SW of Anchorage Alaska Depth - 30 Miles/49 km The location and magnitude are based on preliminary information. Further information will be issued by the United States Geological Survey - Earthquake.USGS.GOV - or the Appropriate Regional Seismic Network.
